As our mission states, we are working every day to improve the health and well-being of our community. We know that this is difficult, so we have developed fun and interactive wellness challenges to give you the tools and boost you need to make those important lifestyle changes. Every challenge offers:
- A set number of weeks to push yourself and support others to form new, healthy habits
- Awesome prizes like gift cards, fitness equipment, or electronics
- An online system for tracking your progress
- A wealth of education to teach you WHY you should form new habits and HOW to maintain them over the lifespan
Rock the Walk
This is an individual step challenge created to encourage participants to log the recommended 10,000 steps every day or an equivalent amount of physical activity. Typically, Rock the Walk is an eight-week challenge with weekly prizes awarded to active participants. It is free to participate and open to the general public. Local businesses are highly encouraged to recruit their employees to participate and help sponsor the challenge’s incentives. Thank you to all of our past Rock the Walk sponsors!
Visit the 2012 and 2013 Rock the Walk pages for past statistics and successes of our local businesses and community groups. Rock the Walk 2014 was a success gathering over 800 participants and over 300,000,000 steps. Past participants have reported that this challenge provided encouragement and motivation to incorporate more physical activity into every day. Rock the Walk 2015 will take place again in the fall.
Slimdown has been a community favorite over the past few years and has produced major results! The goal is to drop a healthy percent of body weight in 8 weeks. Participants are required to attend official weigh-in and weigh-out sessions to be eligible for major prizes; the most important prize being a healthier, more active lifestyle!
