Therapy & Sport Center’s Certified Athletic Trainers Available to Serve Your Needs

Certified athletic trainers are medical experts who help prevent, assess, treat and rehabilitate injuries that result from physical activity. They are professionals recognized by the American Medical Association as allied health specialists in the field of sports medicine. All certified athletic trainers have a minimum four-year college degree from an accredited athletic training program and have passed a national competency exam istered by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.  Certifed athletic trainers are also licensed in the state of Wisconsin.

Fort HealthCare Therapy & Sport Center has athletic trainers who specialize in prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Fort HealthCare’s sports medicine program emphasizes patient injury management, school outreach and biomechanical analysis of throwing, golf and running.

Serving Local Schools

One of the most important aspects of an athletic trainer’s job is to provide care for student athletes from local high schools. Each local high school that participates in the program is visited by an athletic trainer two to five times weekly for evaluation of injured athletes and students. The athletic trainers may help treat and rehabilitate injuries, as well as give advice on nutrition, weight training and conditioning. They also know when to refer an athlete to a physician. Lastly, having an athletic trainer in a high school setting helps significantly reduce healthcare costs for the student athlete and parents. It also helps decrease the school district’s liability.
