Wound & Edema: Treatment
After talking with your doctor, our staff will also examine the type of wound or presence of edema you have and the underlying problems causing the wound. After this, we create a program designed specifically for you and your doctor based on the most effective treatment options.
The Wound & Edema Center able to offer specialized treatments that your primary care physicians may not have in his or her office.
Your treatment may include:
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
- Specialized dressings
- Infectious disease management
- Compression wraps
- Daily wound care and dressing changes
- Physical Therapy
- Vascular evaluation
- Laboratory evaluation
- Nutritional management
- Pain management
- Diabetic education
- Nuclear medicine
- Removal of tissue / Debridement
- Lymphedema treatment
- Manual lymph drainage
- Fitting for compression wraps or garments
Once a treatment plan has been started, you would visit the Center on a regular basis for wound and/or edema care and learn about ways to take care of yourself between visits. If necessary, the Center also provides education and counseling for caregivers.
You are the most important part of your healing process. Keeping appointments and following directions are crucial to healing.
