Fort HealthCare Offers Diabetes
Support Group

After being diagnosed with diabetes, you may have questions about living day-to-day with this disease. Fort HealthCare offers a free Diabetes Support Group the second Monday of every other month to help persons with diabetes in an interactive and relaxed atmosphere.

“The groups are for anyone with diabetes, as well as family or friends who have questions about managing the disease,” said Registered Nurse Karen Davenport, Fort HealthCare diabetes educator.

Participants can use the support group to learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Or they can voice their own concerns. Although each meeting has a theme and is led by Fort HealthCare professionals, participants are encouraged to share their own experiences and help each other solve problems.

The next meeting of the Diabetes Support Group will be Monday, Jan. 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone can attend—no preregistration is necessary. You can attend regularly or just once.

“The next meeting will focus on meeting the daily challenges of living with diabetes,” Davenport said.

All Diabetes Support Group meetings are held at Fort Memorial Hospital. To learn more about the group or diabetes education at Fort HealthCare, call Karen Davenport at (920) 568-5247.
