Outpatient Services Improved
Fort HealthCare is committed to providing an excellent experience for
patients, and it was patient feedback that caused hospital staff to
reconsider the registration process for more immediate access to care.
Outpatients and people with prearranged inpatient stays at Fort Memorial
Hospital now can go directly to their appointment destination to register,
bypassing the main Information Desk.
Jennifer Prasch, manager of registration at Fort HealthCare, stated, “We understand that our patients’ time is valuable. Therefore, we want to reduce the time spent waiting to receive treatment.” The new procedure has hospital staff preregister all scheduled patients using information gathered at the physician’s office or by phone contact with the patient the day before an appointment. Prasch added, “Preregistration will enable us to streamline the process, and patients will have direct access to the service needed without stopping first to register at the main desk.”
Current remodeling activities will soon result in the relocation of outpatient blood-drawing services to an area adjacent to the main lobby entrance on Armenia Street. This will also help make services at Fort Memorial Hospital more convenient. The outpatient laboratory and blood-drawing services will be open to the public Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and closed on Sundays and major holidays. These new, set hours of operation will allow for more consistent staffing and more efficient and effective service.
