Free 4K Parenting ClassesFriday, February 18, 2011
FORT ATKINSON – Fort HealthCare has teamed up with the school districts of Deerfield, Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Johnson Creek, Lake Mills and Whitewater to offer parenting classes. Parents of children participating in 4K at these school districts are invited to attend the following presentations, free of charge.
Raising Optimistic Children: Raising healthy children is a family and community priority. Research on depression shows that there is a strong link between optimistic thinking and resiliency to stress. Optimism can be learned and has been associated with improved physical health, social skills and school performance. Raising Optimistic Children will be held on Monday, February 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fort Memorial Hospital. This interactive class, taught by Licensed Psychologist Sheila Kozler, teaches the skills of optimism that can help combat modern day stressors and age-old developmental challenges.
1,2,3 Magic: Disciplining 2 to 12 year-old children without nagging, arguing, yelling or spanking can be a difficult task. 1,2,3 Magic will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Whitewater Aquatic Center. This class, taught by Fort HealthCare Internal Medicine and Pediatric physician Dr. Donald Williams, will teach you to stop unwanted behaviors and start training your child to do and act as you want.
Registration is required and only open to parents of 4K children participating in the school districts of Deerfield, Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Johnson Creek, Lake Mills and Whitewater. To register, call (920) 568-5244.
