Commitment to Corporate Wellness Award presented by Fort HealthCare to 3 local companiesWednesday, October 17, 2012
Being well is made easier when you are surrounded by those who share similar goals and can help make good choices. With this in mind, Fort HealthCare is encouraging businesses and other organizations in the area to promote wellness in the workplace.
The Commitment to Corporate Wellness award was created as part of Fort HealthCare’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our community. A main component of that goal is keeping people in the workforce healthy and productive. This award recognizes that significant steps have been taken by local employers to create a healthy workplace, there is support from the highest level within the organization and numerous policies and programs exist to enhance the well-being of employees.
Recently, three local companies were recognized: Ball Corporation and Cygnus Business Media of Fort Atkinson, and Polymer Technologies of Whitewater. Each company has demonstrated its commitment to wellness through employee programs focusing on at least four dimensions of the seven dimensions of wellness (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental and occupational.)
“Each of these companies continues to embrace employee wellness with improvements to on-site programming,” remarked Sharon Rateike, employee wellness coordinator at Fort HealthCare. “Examples include annual screenings, risk assessments, health fairs, on-site education, supportive management and employee input.”
This latest group of recipients joins previous winners, Spacesaver, Digi-Star and Nasco, as locally-recognized companies committed to employee well-being.
Healthy employees have more energy, greater levels of camaraderie, increased productivity, reduced levels of injury, greater motivation to perform and lower health care costs.
