Fort HealthCare Offers "Start to Finish" Training Series for Runners

Attention athletes, runners and anyone who plans to compete. Fort HealthCare is offering a free education series to help you learn how to fuel your mind and body to finish any race. The “Start to Finish” program is a three-part series featuring topics like nutrition, stretching, psychology of racing and troubleshooting problems during competition. Taught by licensed athletic trainers and dieticians from Fort HealthCare this series is a must for the seasoned athlete and the beginning runner alike.

Classes are from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the new Fort HealthCare Orthopaedic Associates and Therapy & Sport Center location at 1504 Madison Avenue in Fort Atkinson. Topics covered include:
June 2 – Nutrition for Training, Dynamic versus Static Stretching
June 9 – Nutrition for Competition, Hydration and Cramping
June 16 – Race Day Preparation: Relaxation, Mind Set and Troubleshooting Problems

Fort HealthCare’s Orthopaedic Associates and Therapy & Sport Center will offer the program as part of its platinum sponsorship of the inaugural Fort Half Marathon, an event offered by the Fort Atkinson Chamber of Commerce. The series is open to all runners, regardless if participating in the Fort Half Marathon. The race, 13.1 miles, will be held June 19 beginning at 7:00 a.m. Legs of the race include city and rural stretches that take runners past a real fort, river walk, live farmer’s market and the vintage downtown. The relocation of Fort HealthCare’s Orthopaedic Associates and Therapy & Sport Center is expected to be completed by May 26. The public is invited to join us at an open house at the new Fort Atkinson location on 1504 Madison Avenue, June 25 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and June 26 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Providers from all rehabilitation departments and Fort HealthCare Orthopaedic Associates will be on-hand to present live, interactive demos and displays, answer questions and provide a look at the new facility.
