Thursday, February 21, 2013 - Following a February 5 Chamber of Commerce open house, the Fort HealthCare Simulation Lab accepted the generous donation of a GERI manikin. This new manikin joins two others already housed in the Simulation Lab, but provides a more realistic opportunity for nurses and other healthcare professionals to practice over 30 various skills, including tracheostomy and catheter insertion on elderly patients. Thursday, February 14, 2013 - The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program at Fort HealthCare began providing confidential services to sexual assault victims on Friday, February 8. Prior to that date, Jefferson County had no facility offering these services. Victims were referred to other hospitals, in more urban communities. Fort HealthCare Slimdown Challenge weigh-in begins February 4
Monday, January 28, 2013 - It’s been reported that nineteen percent of all New Year’s resolutions made are related to losing weight. If you are one of those nineteen percent or, if perhaps you’ve come to the conclusion that you need to lose weight after the time for resolutions had passed, then Fort HealthCare encourages you to join this year’s version of the successful Slimdown Challenge. The Fort HealthCare 2013 Slimdown Challenge, offered free of charge to all participants, begins on February 18 and continues for twelve weeks until May 13. Teams of four to six persons can join through a participating employer or through a community-based organization such as the Rock Lake Activity Center (Lake Mills), Working for Whitewater’s Wellness (W3), Slimdown Fort Atkinson and the Cambridge Activities Program (CAP). Wednesday, September 19, 2012 - The newly remodeled Fort HealthCare Jefferson clinic opened in August at its permanent location, 840 West Racine Street in Jefferson. The new clinic is a modern space capable of supporting up to three full time providers practicing at the same time and has a procedure room, new imaging equipment and a small lab area on-site for extra convenience. The clinic’s construction was managed by Stevens Construction Corp., which uses a variety of subcontractors that are specialized in certain areas. Fort HealthCare offers CPR Training for Jefferson County Inmates
Monday, June 18, 2012 - On June 8th, Fort HealthCare teamed up with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to offer jail inmates a chance to participate in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course. CPR is a combination of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth assisted breathing used to restore oxygen in a person who has stopped breathing. State concussion law improves safety for area youth athletes
Friday, June 1, 2012 - State Law Act 172, referred to as the Sideline to Safety Law, was designed to ensure proper care to youth athletes and will influence how coaches and parents treat concussions that occur in school athletics and recreational leagues. High school athletes today are four-times more likely to sustain a concussion than a decade ago. Fort HealthCare's Therapy & Sport Center is the only credentialed ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) provider in the area. ImPACT is a computerized neurocognitive assessment tool used to determine an athlete's readiness to return to play after a concussion. Since 2003, the clinic has operated on a limited basis with volunteer clinicians and support staff. Monday, January 9, 2012 - Representatives of Fort HealthCare gathered around a very large check to celebrate the recently completed goal topping United Way campaign. The campaign ran for a number of weeks this fall, and resulted in the donation of $39,132 to United Way of Jefferson and North Walworth Counties. Cambridge Community Foundation Awards Grant to Fort HealthCare
Monday, May 9, 2011 - In April, the Cambridge Community Foundation awarded a $2,400 grant to the Fort HealthCare Cambridge Clinic to upgrade the equipment used for taking care of broken bones. The new equipment makes the delivery of care more comfortable for patients.
