Spin to Win Poker Pedal

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

Fort HealthCare, in partnership with 2 Rivers Bicycle & Outdoor, are hosting the Spin to Win Poker Pedal, a poker-run style bike ride to benefit the Rock River Free Clinic in Jefferson.

The Spin to Win Poker Pedal will take place on Saturday, October 19 at Fort HealthCare Therapy and Sport Clinic in Fort Atkinson. Proceeds will be given to the Rock River Free Clinic, whose mission is to provide access to free health services through health professionals dedicated to caring for low income and uninsured individuals residing in Jefferson County, Cambridge or Whitewater. Registration for Spin to Win will begin at 8:00 a.m.

This is not a timed race event. Cyclists may choose from 15 or 40 mile marked routes. The long-distance ride, 40 miles, will depart at 9:00 a.m. and 15 mile riders leave at 9:15 a.m. 2 Rivers Bicycle & Outdoor will offer bike checks to cyclists prior to departure. Bike routes, developed by 2 Rivers Bicycle & Outdoor, will be posted on FortHealthCare.com/Bike as they are available. Water stations will be set-up along the routes and riders will be able to pick a different poker card at each one. Prizes will be awarded to the participants with the best poker hands at the completion of the ride. All advanced registrants will receive a long sleeved t-shirt the morning of the event; sizes will be available first come, first served. Cost is $30.

“The Rock River Free Clinic fulfills a critical need in ensuring the health of our most vulnerable residents,” commented Janet Werner, a member of Rock River Free Clinic’s Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce. “The proceeds from this event will help contribute to the services offered through the free clinic, including evaluation and management of chronic medical conditions as well as minor acute illnesses and injuries.”
