AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for HealthCare Provider Certification - Recognition Course

This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR for adult, child, and infant, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.  The Recognition class is for those who have never taken the BLS for Healthcare Provider course or those who have allowed their certification to lapse. A renewal course is required every two years to remain current.  Certifications are good to the end of the month in which they expire.  

The Recognition Course is a pre-requisite course for the new EMT Basic or for those who have allowed their BLS certification to expire.

AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED

This is an ideal opportunity to learn infant (0-12 months old), child (1-8 years old) and adult (8-plus years) CPR and how to use automated external defibrillation. The class is for anyone who wants to learn CPR skills for all age victims and for responders to cardiac emergencies in the workplace or community (such as fitness staff, day care providers, police). An American Heart Association card is issued upon successful completion of the course and is valid for two years.

AHA Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED

Learn basic first aid, adult CPR and automatic external defibrillation (AED) from American Heart Association certified instructors. An American Heart Association card is issued with successful completion and is valid for two years.

Camp 911

Open to children in grades 4 to 6, Camp 911 is a one-day program focusing on safety, prevention techniques and health and wellness. Camp 911 partners with community agencies and Fort HealthCare staff to provide a fun, hands-on learning environment that gives children the knowledge, skills and confidence to protect themselves, react safely in emergency situations and increase awareness of health and wellness.

Camp 911 is limited to 70 participants. Campers must be entering fourth - sixth grade in the 2013-2014 school year. Registrations are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Beverages, lunch and snacks will be provided. Fee is $15 per camper. In case of rain, activities will be moved indoors.

Childbirth Preparation Classes

Classes cover the labor process and delivery, c-sections, relaxation techniques, options for pain management during labor, as well as new-baby care basics. In addition, a lactation consultant will provide an overview of breastfeeding and lactation services, and a certified car seat technician will provide car seat basics.

Mothers should attend classes in mid-to-late pregnancy.
