Sullivan Elementary donates to Fort HealthCare Emergency Department

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Sullivan Elementary School Caring Teams are made up of students in Kindergarten through fifth grades who are "Paying It Forward" to demonstrate that doing good deeds can inspire others to do the same, thus spreading the seeds of good character. The “Sullivan Pays It Forward” committee is focused on service learning during the 2010-2011 school year.

In March, the group collected stuffed animals to donate to area EMS squads and area emergency departments, including that at Fort Memorial Hospital. Approximately 500 stuffed animals were collected by 193 students to give away to help calm the fears of sick or injured children.

Previous projects have included a $400 donation to MADD in honor of Treyton Kilar, a first grader from St. John the Baptist School in Jefferson who was killed by a drunk driver, making fleece blankets to give to a women and children’s center, collecting supplies for service men and women overseas and donations to food pantries.
