Welcome to Our Healthy Community! The purpose of this newsletter is to share resources and connect partners who help drive the health of our community. It takes all of us to come together through our worksites, schools and community groups to become the healthiest community in Wisconsin. Thank you for all you do! MONTHLY INSIGHTS
Building Resiliency
We all experience stress, ups and downs, adversity, and suffering at times throughout our lives. Resilience is the ability to withstand that adversity and bounce back from difficult life events. There are many ways to build your resilience to help you better cope with life's challenges and move forward.
Managing COVID-19
The COVID-19 vaccine is providing hope for the New Year with this pandemic. Managing the spread of COVID-19, however, will still remain a priority through the first part of 2021. Read more to learn about local testing options, assessing symptoms, and other resources to help manage and cope with the coronavirus.
OUR COMMUNITY
Mindfulness Challenge
All community members (any age) are welcome to join the Mindfulness Challenge. Organized through six libraries in Jefferson County, participants may join anytime between Jan 1st - Feb 28th. Participate at your own pace and earn badges as you learn about mindfulness. To register, visit participating libraries' Beanstack site or contact your local library.
Virtual 5K Series
There are two more opportunities to participate in Fort HealthCare's free virtual 5K series. Lace up your walking or running shoes and join us in January and February. These opportunities are free for all community members!
Digital Fitness Class Series
Try one class or all of the digital fitness classes through Fort HealthCare. $5-$10 per class per month or $20 per month for ALL classes. 
Free Midday Movement Classes
Join Fort HealthCare with FREE low-impact movement and stretch classes, offer Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00pm-12:15pm.
Local Blood Drives
Fort HealthCare helps to coordinate monthly blood drives in the Jefferson County area. Dates and locations are continually updated. Pre-registration is required. The Blood Center of Wisconsin (Versiti) is offering the SARS CoV-2 antibody test on all donations as part of their standard testing. The test will be performed on all successful donations at every Versiti blood center and blood drive.
The Aging Mastery Program is coming to Jefferson County
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for our local seniors. The Aging Mastery Program is being offered by the National Council on Aging, the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources, the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Jefferson County and the South-Central Area Health Education Center. The first session will begin on Thursday, January 28th 12:30-2:30 pm and will run for 5 weeks. This no-cost program is designed to help seniors engage in wellness activities. The topics covered include: Creativity and Learning, Connections and Community, Finances and Future Planning, Health and Well-Being, Gratitude and Mindfulness, and Legacy and Purpose. To sign up, please contact the Jefferson County Senior Center closest to you.

Worksite Wellness
Each month we feature free downloadable wellness challenges and information that can be shared with your employees. January is all about building resiliency. The "Jumpin' into January" calendar has fun daily suggestions involving different wellness topics. Read more to download this and other employee wellness resources for January.
OUR SCHOOLS
Backpack News
January's edition covers topics including winter weather safety, taking screen breaks, improving self-esteem and cutting back caffeine. There are two versions available for you to view—Kids and Teens.
