AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Recognition Course

This instructor-led, AHA video-based, course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies in our state of the art simulation lab to reinforce Pediatric Advanced Life Support guidelines. The goal of this hands on course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

The Recognition course is for those who have never taken this course or are expired.

 


AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Renewal Course

This classroom, video-based, instructor-led course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

The Renewal course is for those who need to renew their current certification that has not yet expired.


AHA Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)

Updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, PEARS® helps healthcare providers develop the knowledge and skills needed for emergency evaluation and treatment of seriously ill infants and children.

PEARS teaches providers how to recognize respiratory distress as well as shock and cardiac arrest and how to provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until the child is transferred to an advanced life support provider. The goal of PEARS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Registration includes student manual.


Babysitting – AHA Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

This one-day program emphasizes safety, accident prevention, and basic first aid. Participants, who must be age 11 or older, will learn how to handle typical problems that arise while babysitting, how to make creative snacks, how to diaper and feed a baby, and how to come up with ideas for spending time with children.  Participants should bring a sack lunch.

AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED

This is an ideal opportunity to learn infant (0-12 months old), child (1-8 years old) and adult (8-plus years) CPR and to practice using an automated external defibrillation. The class is for anyone who wants to learn CPR skills for all age victims and for responders to address cardiac emergencies in the workplace or community (such as fitness staff, day care providers, police).  The course also covers adult choking and naloxone.

AHA Heartsaver Family & Friends CPR

This program offers the opportunity to learn adult/child CPR and adult/child choking intervention to aid a family member or close friend in case of emergency. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. This is not a course for certification, which is usually needed for the workplace.  You’ll receive a card stating you participated in the AHA Family & Friends course.

AHA Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements and covers first aid basics and CPR and AED skills for adults, children, and infants.  This course will teach you to recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help a person until more advanced care arrives to take over. The course also covers adult choking and naloxone.  Designed to meet OSHA regulations, this course covers first aid basics, consisting of the most common life-threatening emergencies, how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills.

This class is offered on Saturdays from 8:30am until 3:30pm or on two Wednesday evenings, two weeks apart from 6-9:30pm.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Certification

This classroom BLS Course trains participants to  recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.  It is an instructor-led, video-based course with real scenarios.
