The Pharmacy Services team of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technician professionals, pharmacy analysts and our pharmacy buyer promote safe and regulatory compliant medication management practices and systems throughout the health-system, all hospital departments and affiliated Fort Medical Group clinics and service lines.
The pharmacy service provides expert resources, clinical decision support, medication treatment recommendations and evidence-based therapy to our patients community, support services teammates, and medical providers team. Pharmacy professionals work throughout the healthcare system directly in the patient care departments and units as well as in our ambulatory community-based clinics, in an ongoing effort to be everywhere our patients need us to be.
Components of our safe medication management practices and system include:
Fort HealthCare Pharmacy Leadership encourage all Fort Healthcare clinical pharmacists to become Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy Services (BCPS). Furthermore, the Fort Healthcare Pharmacy Leadership also encourages all pharmacy technician professionals to become Certified Technician Compliant (CPhT). More than 90% of the Pharmacy Services Team hold these additional certifications.
New toolkit helps pharmacists build opioid stewardship programs in rural Wisconsin. According to the article, “The toolkit delivers resources and guidance to health systems that are just starting to develop opioid stewardship initiatives as well as those that are ready to expand their efforts…” The project is a partnership between the Sonderegger Research Center for Improved Medication Outcomes at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, and Cerner Corporation. The work benefits the communities Fort HealthCare serves, and helps other organizations build their own opioid stewardship programs. Fort HealthCare’s own pharmacy director, Tyler Prickette, PharmD, BCPS, was integral to the project’s research and development.
