Did you know, that one in four Americans over the age of 65 fall down every year? However, falling is not a normal part of aging. Every older adult has the power to prevent a fall.

On September 22nd, 2017, Fort HealthCare will join with the National Council on Aging and hundreds of organizations nationwide to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Falls Prevention Awareness Day with activities to empower older adults to prevent falls in their everyday life.

In celebration of Falls Prevention Awareness Day Fort HealthCare will host fall risk assessments and offer information on fall prevention.

The event will take place on September 22nd, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Therapy and Sport Center, located at 1504 Madison Ave. Fort Atkinson, WI, 53538.

Along with a fall risk assessment, participants will also get blood pressure screenings and additional information regarding their health and fall prevention.

The coordinated Ten Years Standing Together to Prevent Falls anniversary celebrations bring together older adults and their loved ones, health and aging professionals, and community leaders in support of falls prevention. Fort HealthCare’s fun community event will empower older adults to stay active, independent, and safe in their homes and communities.
