“As we look ahead to 2023 and beyond, I’m honored to step into this newest role, and I look forward to continuing and building upon the groundwork and culture that Fort HealthCare has established over the last 20 years. As a physician, I understand the importance of quality and value-based healthcare, while sustaining medical excellence to the community. Fort HealthCare has a very bright future, and I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of it.”

~ Michael Anderson, MD, President & CEO, Fort HealthCare

Regardless of someone’s personal or financial circumstances, we are here to help them. Fear of a bill should never prevent a patient from seeking care. Whether it is providing financial assistance to patients with limited resources through charity care programs, or improving access to essential and primary healthcare services by sponsoring free medical and dental clinics, hospitals provide a safety net of care in the community.

Without that care in place, state and local governments would have a much greater burden in trying to deliver these critical services to a vulnerable population. Hospitals deliver millions of dollars of services aimed at improving the overall health of the community, partnering with public health departments and other local organizations to provide leadership, financial support and human resources in identifying and addressing community health priorities.

We provide free laboratory and radiology services to Rock River Community Clinic patients, valued at $260,000 annually.

In all, Fort HealthCare provided more than $656,000 in uncompensated charity care and $6.68 million in unreimbursed Medicaid in our last fiscal year, impacting multiple people in the communities we serve.

In addition to supporting community programs and charity care, we also contribute annually to several local schools, organizations, and health and wellness events. Between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2022, we donated $143,015 in sponsorships to over 65 local organizations.

A few examples of programs and services we support are:

  • The Rock River Community Clinic
  • Rainbow Hospice Care
  • Employer and Community Health Challenges
  • BASE (Badgerland After School Enrichment Program)
  • Area Farmer’s Markets
  • Healthy Community Coalitions
  • Healthy education programs in schools
