We are committed to greater engagement in the overall health of our community and are actively encouraging other individuals to join us. It is our goal to present information, education, resources, programs and tools currently in place in our community – and through our partnerships – to help individuals and families enjoy good health for now and in the years to come.

Creating Wisconsin’s healthiest community is challenging, but incredibly important. It requires Jefferson County and surrounding communities to unite in their collective missions to make life better for everyone. Through our collaborative efforts to improve nutrition, encourage fitness, and fight obesity, we will become the healthiest community in Wisconsin. Our community members’ efforts are critical to achieving this level of success.

Fort HealthCare’s Community Health & Wellness department works with several local community coalitions to mobilize the assets of our partners and reduce obesity among residents in Jefferson County and the surrounding areas. Coalition membership includes representatives from local schools, churches, government agencies, businesses, community organizations and interested individuals.

Each of the community coalitions are actively developing strategies to implement in their local communities. Their plans include strategies and tactics that address public policy, the environment and the community, as well as organizational and individual change. Using these strategies is intended to be successful in both prevention and intervention efforts.

The coalitions recently developed some videos about themselves and their efforts to better share what they are all about. Interested community members are encouraged to contact a coalition member and discuss ways to participate. Most coalitions hold regular monthly meetings.
