Meditation practice may help reduce holiday stress
It is always a good time to think about ways to reduce the level of negative stress in your life, as too much stress can lead to poor health, or worsen an existing health condition. The holiday season in particular, while joyous in a lot of ways, can be stressful for many people. Hectic holidays can leave you feeling physically and emotionally drained. A regular meditation practice might be a benefit to help you navigate through stressful times and teach yourself to manage stress on a daily basis. Learn more about our upcoming class, which begins December 8th.
December is Safe Toy Month
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, hospital emergency rooms treat an estimated 251,700 toy-related injuries on average each year throughout the United States. Additionally, toymakers often recall millions of toys worldwide because of safety concerns such as lead paint and small magnets. When it comes to toys and gifts, the excitement and desire to get your children their favorite toys may cause shoppers to forget about safety factors associated with them. Before you make these purchases, it is critical to remember to consider the safety and age range of the toys.
Winter sports and ankle injuries: To brace, or to tape?
During every sport season and in virtually all sports, coaches and athletic trainers are faced with athletes who have a history of “weak” ankles, which can lead to ankle injury. The traditional approach has been to tape these players to give them additional protection from injury or re-injury. Unfortunately, this has been proven to be a poor choice, both from an economic and protection standpoint.

Antibiotics are not for all illnesses
When you or your child is not feeling well, the impulse to get a prescription for an antibiotic – quickly! – seems like the best course of action, offering the most immediate relief for illnesses. Many of us have grown up believing antibiotics are a “cure-all,” having experienced success when using them in the past. But, depending upon what ails you, an antibiotic may not be the proper course of treatment. Or it may even do more harm than good.
