There are some exciting changes coming for school nursing and pediatric wellness. Fort HealthCare has recently entered into a contract with Palmyra-Eagle Area School District to provide school nursing services. This brings the total number of school districts serviced by Fort HealthCare to nine. School nursing is an important aspect of our overall population health strategy and will complement the great Fort HealthCare athletic training services already being provided to Palmyra-Eagle Area School District (PEASD).

The new PEASD contract requires a school nurse. We are happy to announce Lisa Jensen has accepted an expanded role that will include providing school nurse services to PEASD.  In the coming weeks, Lisa will be transitioning out of Infection Prevention. Please thank Lisa for all her great infection prevention work and congratulate her on the role.

While Lisa is giving up her Infection Prevention role, she is retaining her role as School Nurse Coordinator as well as gaining a pediatric wellness role from Kati Wetzel. Please thank Kati for her leadership with the Pediatric Wellness Committee. Kati will continue a role with pediatrics within the hospital and Lisa will assume her Pediatric Wellness Committee duties.

With all these changes, we have taken this opportunity to re-evaluate Lisa’s job description and retitle it: School Nursing and Wellness Program Coordinator, reporting to Bridget Monahan, Manager of Community Health and Wellness.

Fort HealthCare is committed to population health. Both school nursing and pediatric wellness are essential components of our larger population health strategy. We are excited for the many new opportunities in front of us.
