Fort HealthCare community assessment is roadmap to wellness

On a regular basis, Fort HealthCare engages in a comprehensive survey of area households to determine the health related needs and behaviors of residents. The results have helped Fort HealthCare develop programs and services that addressed specific needs as described by survey participants such as greater access to cardiology and oncology services, as well as new educational offerings and wellness classes. This year, the nature of the community health assessment was modified with an eye toward President Obama’s sweeping healthcare reform legislation, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.

Diabetes Day indoor walk event at Fort HealthCare

Free health screenings will be available 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Fort Memorial Hospital. Please use the Ambulatory Service entrance on McMillen Street. People with diabetes, family members and those seeking to understand their health are encouraged to participate. There will be refreshments, door prizes, information on diabetic care and living a healthy lifestyle. In addition, everyone is invited to walk some laps through the halls of the hospital. Walkers will earn tickets for prize drawings for each lap walked.
