Family Health Fair and Radio Disney Coming to Jefferson

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Fort HealthCare will be hosting the second annual Family Health Fair from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Center on Saturday, August 27.

The Family Health Fair was created with fun in mind to demonstrate that being healthy does not have to be boring. In fact, trying new things is often encouraged as part of a wellness plan.  The Radio Disney Road Crew will be featured at the Family Health Fair from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the fairgrounds activity center.  There will be dancing, games, prizes and health information.  Games at the fair include Sumo Wrestling, Operation, Inflatable Twister, Bungee Run and Dance, Dance Revolution.  Health information, giveaways and free screenings (blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index) will be offered at the booths around the activity center.  The general public is welcome and the fair is free of charge.

“The Fort HealthCare Family Health Fair is a great way for families to learn, together, what it means and what it takes to be healthy,” remarked Andrea Billinghurst, Fort HealthCare’s community programming coordinator. “It is more than just exercise, eating well or going to the doctor. Wellness is all of these things and more. Most of all it means taking small steps each day to ensure your family is at its best.”

Your family’s health and wellness is one of the most valuable things in life, which is why Fort HealthCare is offering a free family wellness event.  The Family Health Fair is part of Fort HealthCare’s Health 365 programs, which is intended as a reminder that health is something that needs attention 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of every year. Annual physicals or thinking about staying healthy once you’re already sick is not enough.  Information and activities at the Family Health Fair can assist kids, parents and grandparents in finding ways to ensure they are always at their healthiest.
