Fort HealthCare CFO Nelson Appointed to Medicare Advisory Panel

Fort HealthCare is pleased to announce that James Nelson, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has accepted an invitation to serve on the federal government’s Advisory Panel on Hospital Outpatient Payment. The committee is sponsored by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Health and Human Services. Nelson’s term began on February 1 and continues through January 2016.

The Advisory Panel consists of up to 19 total members who are full-time employees of hospitals, hospital systems, or other Medicare providers. Members are chosen based on their expertise in hospital medical care delivery systems; provider billing and accounting systems; the use of, and payment for, drugs, medical devices, and other services in the hospital outpatient setting; and other forms of relevant expertise. Panel members serve without compensation.

Nelson, a certified public accountant (CPA), has been with Fort HealthCare since 1997. He obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in both Business Administration and Managerial Accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and a Masters in Business Administration from Marquette University. Nelson is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Rotary International.
