Health Information Management and System Society (HIMSS), a non-profit organization focused on better health through technology, has recognized Fort HealthCare’s ambulatory clinics for the work they have done to improve the digital infrastructure in their clinics.
HIMSS Analytics ranked Fort HealthCare’s 15 ambulatory clinics as Stage 6 on its Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model. Only 6.9% of all U.S. ambulatory care clinics have received this distinction.
“HIMSS Analytics congratulates Fort HealthCare for leading the way toward health IT adoption,” said John Hoyt, FACHE, FHIMSS, executive vice president, HIMSS Analytics. “Stage 6 represents a level of sophistication that only 2,364 U.S. ambulatory sites have reached to date.”
Fort HealthCare began its journey toward a fully integrated EMR in 2010 when it entered into a close partnership with a healthcare information technology leader, Cerner Corporation. One of the goals of the partnership was to create a medical record system that gives clinicians critical medical data whenever and wherever they need it most. The EMR helps physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists and lab technicians communicate with one another and make the best possible care decisions for patients.
In Wisconsin, 148 ambulatory clinics have reached HIMSS Analytics Ambulatory Stage 6 honors, including the 15 facilities associated with Fort HealthCare. To learn more about Stage 6 ambulatory facilities, visit himssanalytics.org/emram/stage6Ambulatory.
