William Hofmann, MD, otolaryngologist with Fort HealthCare Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists, is hosting a free community seminar about the topic of nasal congestion on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 beginning at 4 p.m. The event will be held in the Community Room at Dwight Foster Public Library, located at 209 Merchants Avenue in Fort Atkinson. The presentation is set to last about 30 minutes, and Dr. Hofmann will be available to answer questions afterward.

Nasal congestion is another term for a stuffy nose. Congestion can occur at any time – it can be seasonal, or some people experience it on a seemingly continuous or long-term basis. Or often nasal congestion is a symptom of another health problem, such as a sinus infection or the common cold.

Nasal congestion can be quite uncomfortable for all ages, and the best treatment option may depend upon figuring out what the underlying cause is. There are many causes of nasal congestion, and Dr. Hofmann will speak about these, as well as provide an overview of sinusitis (swelling of the sinuses), seasonal respiratory allergies, antibiotic use, and how these different causes and treatments benefit children to older adults.

Registration is not required, and there is no cost to attend the event.

Dr. Hofmann is a board certified otolaryngologist, or physician that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions of the ear, nose, sinuses, larynx (throat), upper respiratory tract, and neck.

He states, “My practice revolves around patient-centered care. Every person has a unique story, so my goal is always to work closely with each individual to develop a plan of care that works for them.”

He continues, “I love otolaryngology because I help families – from newborns to older adults – all through their lives. I especially enjoy taking care of kids, because common procedures can have such an enormous impact on their lives. Hearing a parent say their child has improved is always a highlight of the day. I find it very rewarding when anyone is feeling much better due to the care I helped provide.”

Dr. Hofmann works with his colleague and fellow otolaryngologist, Michael Anderson, MD, and audiologist, Cheryl Kinney, Au. D., at Fort HealthCare Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists. Their clinic is located at 512 Wilcox Street in Fort Atkinson. Their practice specializes in the treatment of respiratory allergies (including immunotherapy), nasal and sinus conditions, head, neck, and reconstructive plastic surgery, and sleep apnea and snoring, as well as hearing testing, hearing aid dispensing and other audiology services and care.
