Fort HealthCare is pleased to announce that it has made a significant commitment to environmental sustainability by joining Practice Greenhealth, a membership organization for institutions and businesses in the healthcare field who are engaged in reducing their environmental footprints.

Practice Greenhealth provides practical guidance, training, consultation and business solutions to help its members in their efforts to implement environmentally responsible practices at their facilities. More than 1,000 healthcare institutions are members of Practice Greenhealth, demonstrating the growing commitment among the health community to reduce environmental impact. “This membership allows us to tap in to the collective experience of healthcare organizations around the country that are implementing innovative programs that reduce their environmental impact and free up resources to improve the quality of care they provide,” stated Margaret Martin, Fort HealthCare’s Sustainability Coordinator.

Practice Greenhealth offers a variety of services and programs for members, including a comprehensive program of continuing education, assistance with sustainable operations and environmentally preferable purchasing, the Healthcare Clean Energy Exchange, networking opportunities and its Environmental Excellence Awards program, which recognizes the achievements of member organizations. “We are very pleased to welcome Fort HealthCare to the Practice Greenhealth member community,” stated Robert Jarboe, executive director of Practice Greenhealth. “Their membership demonstrates a real commitment to improving the environmental impact on their patients, staff and communities.”

Practice Greenhealth is the nation’s leading membership and networking organization for institutions in the healthcare community that have made a commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Members include hospitals, healthcare systems, businesses and other stakeholders engaged in the greening of healthcare to improve the health of patients, staff and the environment.
