Fort HealthCare is pleased to announce that the organization has been named a ‘Top 100 Workplace’ by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for 2010. The honor was announced in a special "Top 100 Workplaces" section in the Sunday, May 23 edition of the newspaper. The section profiles high-performing companies, including Fort HealthCare.

The ‘Top Workplaces’ recognition is given to the leading workplaces in the southeastern Wisconsin based on employee opinions collected through an anonymous survey. The results of the employee survey were compared across participating organizations, with the best 100 companies appearing on the list; Fort HealthCare was ranked number 14 among large-sized businesses listed.

In these challenging economic times the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel set out to see what businesses are doing to keep their employees content and productive. Working with survey company WorkplaceDynamics, the Journal Sentinel asked employees to rank their company or organization on criteria including how valued they feel, pay and benefits, management capabilities, career advancement opportunities, flexibility of working conditions and many more topics. Rankings are based on input from a large percentage of workers at each nominated organization. Fort HealthCare employees completed 613 surveys between November and December 2009.

A comprehensive application was also completed as part of the review process. The application allowed Fort HealthCare to describe how the organization has responded to the recent economic downturn and how it supports the local community through sponsorships, fundraising activities, financial assistance for patients and donations to other non-profit organizations.

The application also allowed for a description of how Fort HealthCare is an organization directed by a system of core values. The Core Values are based on the acronym RESPECT. They are: Responsiveness, Excellence, Service, Professionalism, Excellence, Cultural Diversity and Teamwork. These core values are posted throughout all Fort HealthCare buildings and are incorporated into the performance evaluation of each employee. The Core Commitments- Quality, Safety, Finance, Safety and Growth guide each year’s strategic plan. All staff is made familiar with their individual role in attaining the objectives and Core Commitments of the strategic plan.

"Being named as a leading workplace in southeastern Wisconsin is a great achievement for us, thanks in large part to our ‘Culture of Respect’ and the values our employees are challenged to uphold," said Mike Wallace, President & CEO of Fort HealthCare. "We strive to maintain a work environment that allows for personal accomplishment and rewards results.
There is no doubt that Fort HealthCare’s success is entirely attributable to the quality, dedication, and desire that our employees, working with medical staff, bring to their jobs each and every day to ensure we are doing what is right for our patients.

Nancy Alstad, director of human resources, Fort HealthCare added: "Achieving the distinction of being a Top Workplace demonstrates that Fort HealthCare stands out as an ethical, caring employer with good leadership and development opportunities for staff. This recognition honors the hard work that every employee contributes to make our company a great place to work."
