Fort HealthCare plans new Fort Atkinson physician office

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

The Fort HealthCare board of directors recently announced the construction of a new primary care clinic location in Fort Atkinson. The new clinic will be located at 1520 Madison Avenue, the current location of the Goodwill Store. The existing Goodwill Store will re-locate to the west on adjacent property to be developed for the new store.

It is anticipated that the new Goodwill Store will be completed by November of this year. At that time, Fort HealthCare will lease the existing retail space and begin converting the interior to a medical clinic that will accommodate up to four primary care providers and physician extenders such as nurse practitioners. Renovations are expected to be completed by March 2013.

According to Dr. Edwin Fischer, medical director at Fort HealthCare, the intent is to increase access to primary care in Fort Atkinson. “This is in accordance with Fort HealthCare’s strategic initiatives to provide the right care in the right place at the right time. The new clinic will offer extended hours to better meet the needs of our patients. And, as occurs at all Fort HealthCare clinics, the providers will utilize the Compass electronic health record to enhance patient education services and chronic disease management,” said Fischer.
