Fort Atkinson, Wis. – If you are looking to lose weight or want to incorporate better eating and activity habits into your life, Get L.I.T.E. (Lifestyle Improvement Through Education), the weight management program offered through Fort HealthCare, can help.
The Get L.I.T.E. classes have been revamped to better accommodate your needs. Get L.I.T.E. is now made up of six weekly coaching sessions, facilitated by Vicki Hayes, to help participants make behavioral changes based on productive exercise, proper nutrition (low-glycemic diet) and motivation. The program’s curriculum was endorsed by a Fort HealthCare medical advisory committee. “I am very excited about Fort HealthCare’s commitment to wellness,” said Hayes. “I believe in their philosophy and look forward to sharing my knowledge about progressing on the road to a healthy lifestyle.”
The program consists of presentations by the facilitator and guest speakers, participant discussion and educational handouts. Participants will share information, support one another and learn about topics related to nutrition, exercise and emotion. Each participant receives a journal that includes an exercise and nutrition log, tips and other information. Participants also use the Health 365 tools and care guides available online at www.FortHealthCare.com.
New six-week sessions will be starting in the month of September. Mondays, September 19 to October 24, classes will be held at Fort Memorial Hospital from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Another session begins on Tuesdays, September 20 to October 25 from 6 to 7 p.m., both facilitated by Hayes. The sessions are $85 and include a daily journal and cookbook. To register for the class, please go to www.FortHealthCare.com/Classes or call (920) 568-5244.

The Fort HealthCare Health 365 program reminds people that their health needs attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of every year. Health 365 includes an on-line wellness service with numerous easy-to-understand tools, instructional videos, health assessments and other offerings that demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of our community. Free membership allows participants to receive no cost lab services that helps them “know their numbers” and health risks. Annual physicals or trying to stay healthy once you’re already sick is not enough. Preventive healthcare and early detection are both shown to enhance individual well-being and lower health insurance costs.
