Heaney is Fort Memorial Hospital Foundation director

Fort HealthCare and the Fort Memorial Hospital Foundation recently announced the appointment of Dwight Heaney as the Foundation’s executive director. In this role, Heaney will provide leadership to raise philanthropic funds in support of Fort HealthCare’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our community.

According to Michael Wallace, Fort HealthCare president and CEO, “Heaney brings extensive experience to this high-profile position, which is central to future fund raising activities for our organization.”

Heaney’s professional skillset includes fundraising through planned giving, major gifts and capital campaigns. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and is a member of various organizations important to the community of fundraising professionals including the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from Augsburg College, and attended Keller Graduate School in Milwaukee.

Heaney comes to Fort HealthCare with 22 years of non-profit fundraising experience, leading capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving and comprehensive fundraising programs. Prior to his appointment at the Fort Memorial Hospital Foundation, Heaney served as chief development officer for St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was responsible for raising funds and preparing the hospital for a $20 million major gift campaign.

Together, Heaney and his wife Beth enjoy traveling, boating and gourmet foods. He also enjoys fishing, birding and the outdoors.
