Fort HealthCare is hosting a new, innovative pregnancy education class open to mothers and fathers-to-be in their 16 – 24th week of pregnancy. The Having Healthy Babies class is an opportunity for participants to learn more about pregnancy-related topics including; nutrition and exercise, medication and pain relief options during pregnancy, breastfeeding, infant CPR, choosing a caregiver, safe sleeping arrangements, Shaken Baby Syndrome and more. Members of the Fort HealthCare obstetric staff will be on-hand to answer pregnancy related questions and concerns and participants will also be given a hospital tour.

“Expecting parents have many different worries and concerns when it comes to having a child,” remarked Jan Simdon, R.N., Clinical Coordinator at the Great Expectations Birthing Center. “The second trimester is a great time to address these concerns. All expecting couples are encouraged to attend this class to learn more about a variety of topics related to pregnancy and newborn care.”

Having Healthy Babies will be held monthly, with the first class held on Wednesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. in the Fort Memorial Hospital Auditorium. The $5/couple class fee can applied to the purchase of a CPR Anytime Kit. Participants can register by calling (920) 568-5244 or online at FortHealthCare.com/Classes.
