Radiology earns ACR accreditation in computed tomography

Fort HealthCare Radiology has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning - sometimes called CAT scanning - is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions.

Electronic health record project on track

Late last spring, Fort HealthCare announced a strategic partnership with Cerner Corporation to implement a comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) system. The Cerner EHR software system, known internally to Fort HealthCare staff as the Compass project, will become available throughout all hospital and clinic locations on August 1.

Blood drive saves 183 local lives

Fort HealthCare held another successful blood drive, hosted by the Blood Center of Wisconsin, on Monday. There were 61 donations, enough to save up to 183 lives in the community. Each donated unit can save up to 3 lives because the red cells, platelets and plasma are used for special patient need and care situations.

200 Digital thermometers donated to City of Fort Atkinson

The City of Fort Atkinson Wastewater Utility and Fort HealthCare will be holding a mercury thermometer exchange at the Fort Atkinson Farmers Market on the following Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. through Noon: July 2, August 6 and September 3. The market is located in the Milwaukee street municipal parking lot across from the post office in downtown Fort Atkinson. Fort HealthCare is underwriting the cost of this initiative through the purchase of 200 digital thermometers.

Love Lights purchased DASH 5000 monitor for Emergency Services

Each year, the Fort HealthCare Partners raise funds for new equipment, at Fort Memorial Hospital, through the sale of Love Lights. The 2010 campaign allowed the emergency department to purchase a Dash 5000 monitor. This equipment allows staff to better diagnosis and monitor individuals coming into the hospital with heart attack symptoms.

Third Graders use mini grant for babies and seniors

The Fort HealthCare Great Expectations Birthing Center and Home Health departments are grateful recipients of blankets for newborn and thermometers and scales for seniors, thanks to two Rockwell Elementary School third graders, Morgan Miles and Allysa Mullen. The pair got creative with their "Blankets for Babies / Supplies for Seniors" campaign which lead to outstanding results.

Bike to Work Class offered June 16

Fort HealthCare is hosting a lunch and learn class to help interested community members learn effective ways to tackle the challenges associated with biking to work. The Bike-to-Work class will be Thursday, June 16 at Noon in Fort Memorial Hospital\'s Classroom B. Topics will include safety, route planning, bike maintenance, preparation and contingency plans. Light lunch will be provided. The class will be led by Craig Ficenec, an avid biker and local resident.
