Pilots' Medical Certification Available Locally

FORT ATKINSON – Aaron J. Beck, MD, of Fort HealthCare Integrated Family Care, recently completed training as an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Dr. Beck is available for both routine aviation physical examinations and appointments to evaluate a pilot’s acute medical condition between his or her routinely scheduled exams. He offers medical certification exams for local pilots.
The FAA mandates that all pilots be medically qualified to fly. To function safely in today’s complex airspace, it is imperative that all air crewmembers be medically qualified to perform their duties. For this reason, the aviation medical examiner is a key element in the aviation safety formula.
Dr. Beck states, “The environment in the cockpit is different than the environment on the ground in terms of both physiologic stress, and emotional stress. This, and an emphasis on safety, has encouraged the FAA to demand strict requirements for pilots from a medical perspective.”
For convenience in today’s busy world, Dr. Beck offers the FAA MedXPress system. MedXPress allows anyone requiring an FAA Medical Certificate or Student Pilot Medical Certificate to electronically complete their medical application. Information entered into MedXPress will be available to the AME to review prior to and at the time of an exam.

Dr. Beck recently completed his family medicine residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center Rural Program in Hendersonville, N.C. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and his undergraduate degree from Concordia University Wisconsin-Mequon where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He provides a full spectrum of preventive and medical care for all ages.
