Wellness of Women, Free monthly seminars

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Women are notorious for putting themselves last to meet the needs of their family or work life. Fort HealthCare has developed the Wellness of Women (WOW) program to help women put themselves first, so they have more to give in the other aspects of their lives.

Wellness of Women monthyl group walkWOW explores topics of personal health, while offering opportunities to win prizes and meet other local women with similar interests. The kick-off event will be a wellness expo held Saturday, June 4, 9:00 a.m. to noon, at the Fort HealthCare Therapy & Sport Center, 1504 Madison Avenue in Fort Atkinson. The expo will feature information about seniors, mothers of young children, family health, motivation, fitness basics and weight management, as well as drawings for door prizes.

Beginning in July, WOW events will take place the first Wednesday of each month with a 30-minute seminar at 5:30 p.m. and 30-minute group walk at 6:00 p.m. Each month, Fort HealthCare’s team of wellness experts including physical therapists, athletic trainers, medical providers and dieticians, will present information on different topics such as: exercise during pregnancy, strength-training for seniors, nutrition, staying active, weight management and work/life balance. Attendees are encouraged to dress for physical activity and can earn entries in prize drawings by participating in the seminars and/or walks each month.

Registration and more information is available online or by calling Fort HealthCare Health Promotion at (920) 568-5161.
