Pre-registration is required, due Friday, May 15, 2009.

Program highlights include:

  • Review of Law 49CFR, Part 382, with emphasis on supervisor training, prohibited conduct and next steps for managing a positive test result.
  • Drug and alcohol screening collection procedures
  • Drug and alcohol training to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing under Part 382.307.

Since January 1, 1996, all companies with employees who have a commercial drivers license (CDL) and own, lease or operate a commercial motor vehicle, are required to have an established drug and alcohol testing program. These rules are part of the Federal Department of Transportation rules 49CFR, Part 382. Supervisors of CDL holders are also required to have training that will focus on the behavioral, physical, speech and performance indicators of controlled substance and alcohol misuse.
