Professional Practice
Julie is a clinical pharmacist and a pharmacy residency preceptor for Fort HealthCare. She received a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Pharmacy in 2006. Her prior experience as a veterinary technician, working closely with doctors of veterinary medicine and explaining pet medications to clients, inspired her to continue her educations and become a pharmacist. Julie’s leadership experience includes being a lead pharmacist for the Fort HealthCare Joint Replacement Joint Camp Program, and Medication by History Class. The class teaches nurses, interns, technicians and other staff on performing medication histories. Julie has had various experiences in pharmacy which include: hospital, subacute care, ambulatory care, retail and veterinary pharmacy. Julie is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, obtaining that honor in 2017. She maintains membership in the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Personal Interests
Julie’s practice interests include transitions of care – including all aspects of medication reconciliation, discharge coordination, patient education, and veterinary pharmacy. She enjoys teaching other staff about medication history techniques and coordinating discharges with our community pharmacy partners. In her free time she enjoys volunteering with the Fort Atkinson Kennel Club teaching puppy classes, and with the American Brittany Rescue helping foster dogs find permanent homes. Her main pastimes include training her canine companions for competition in various dog sports, and spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.
