William Cannon, MD - Internist

In medical school Dr. Cannon dreamed of practicing medicine in a small Wisconsin town to honor his family, who settled here in the 1850s. He was offered the opportunity to teach at Loyola University Medical Center where he has practiced primary care medicine for the past twenty years. Dr. Cannon held several teaching and leadership positions which he found both fascinating and demanding. “Now I’m ready to live my dream while getting back to my roots. I love patient care and am thrilled at the opportunity to have an impact in our local community."

Dr. Cannon loves medicine - as one of his closest friends has said, “I get to do things that actually make a difference for people.”

Interests

Dr. Cannon and his family love their home in Fort Atkinson and the community they’ve come to know. “My wife, daughter, family and medicine are my life. I also love to kayak, hike, bicycle and cheer for the Packers during football season."

Internal Medicine & Pediatrics

"Doctors of internal medicine, also called “internists”, are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases that affect adults. Internists are sometimes referred to as the “doctor’s doctor” because they often act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems. Doctors of internal medicine treat the whole person, not just internal organs.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dedicated to the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. Treating a child is not like treating a miniature adult. A major difference between pediatrics and adult medicine is that children cannot make decisions for themselves. We support the health and well-being of children and are advocates for children’s health issues.
