Fort HealthCare provides physical therapy for women as a treatment option for the following diagnoses:

  • Pregnancy related pain (back, pelvic, hip, neck pain and/or headaches)
  • Post-partum complaints (pain or incontinence)
  • Chronic abdominal pain
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Urinary urgency or frequency
  • Voiding dysfunction, including difficulty with emptying and urinary retention
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Constipation
  • Pelvic pain
  • Vulvovaginal pain, including vulvodynia, vestibulitis, and vaginismus
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Diastasis recti dysfunction (separation of the abdominals during pregnancy)
  • Dyspareunia (pain during or after intercourse)
  • Postoperative pain (postoperative scar care, including post C-section)
  • Postural dysfunction
  • Osteoporosis

These physical therapy treatments may be helpful for women’s health problems:

  • Manual therapy to improve mobility and function
  • Trigger point release, including internal and external massage techniques
  • Biofeedback to facilitate muscle control or relaxation
  • Bladder and bowel retraining
  • Behavioral strategies to decrease symptoms, including dietary modifications
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • Exercises to improve strength and/or flexibility
  • Modalities, such as ultrasound (deep heat) and electrical stimulation
