We want to give patients various forms of access to connect with providers from the safety and convenience of their own home. A Video Visit is one way to do that.

How to schedule a video visit

To schedule a Video Visit, call your local Fort HealthCare provider’s office and request that a video visit be scheduled instead of coming into the clinic. A time is scheduled, just like an appointment. To complete a virtual visit, you will just need to make sure you have a computer or mobile device that is connected to the Internet with a webcam and microphone. You will be sent a link through email and a text message that will be active 30 minutes before your appointment time. You can also access the link through your MyCompass account, under “My Appointments.” If you do not have a MyCompass account, the link will also be texted to you.

Video visit through MyCompass

  1. After you have scheduled a video visit, log in to your MyCompass account to view an upcoming video visit appointment. Video visits are denoted with a camera icon. You can test your connection at any time after your visit is scheduled. The visit will be available 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Anytime during this 30-minute window, you can click on the “join now” button to begin the visit.
  2. From within your MyCompass account, you can also invite others to join you on your video visit. The person(s) you invite will receive an email with a link to join the video visit.
  3. After you click “join now,” you must agree to the acknowledgement before moving forward. You will also be prompted to allow access to your device’s microphone and camera. You should only need to do this once when launching a video visit for the first time. After allowing access, you will have the opportunity to test the connection and join the meeting.
  4. During your video visit, you will have the option to mute the microphone or turn off the camera. You will also see the provider you are speaking with and anybody else that you may have invited to the appointment in the main window of your screen. At the end of the visit, you can click the red “leave” button to end your visit.

When to use a video visit

Video Visits are billed to insurance just like an office visit. With a Video Visit, you can select the provider you want to have your appointment with at a time that works for you. Video Visits are great options for a variety of conditions and some types of follow-up visits.

Many patients are successfully connecting with providers via Video Visit for the following types of concerns:

  • Routine office visits for sudden, minor health conditions
  • Follow up visits for chronic conditions
  • Medicare annual wellness visits
  • Health screenings
  • Therapy and Sport Rehabilitation visits
  • Psychiatry and mental health appointment
  • Surgery follow-up visits

Depending on your individual care plan or illness, the provider may tell you that an in-person visit is recommended to give you the best care possible.

Call your primary care provider’s office to schedule a Video Visit.
