At our Therapy & Sport Centers, our occupational therapists work most commonly with injuries affecting your upper extremities (i.e. fingers, wrists, arms, elbows and shoulders).  Occasionally, our therapists will also evaluate patients with neck pain, depending on the specific clinic you attend.

Common Conditions:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fractures
  • Arthritis (rheumatoid and osteoarthritis)
  • Hand/Thumb pain
  • Burn care
  • Tendon repairs
  • Rotator Cuff tendonitis or surgical care
  • Strains/Sprains
  • Elbow Tendonitis (Golfers or Tennis elbow)
  • Post surgical care for the upper extremity
  • Post stroke or neurological incident care
  • Developmental disorders
  • Sensory processing disorders (services offered at Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills sites only)

Symptoms that OT can help with:

  • Hand/Elbow/Shoulder Pain
  • Swelling or edema through the upper extremity
  • Numbness/tingling in the hands or arms
  • Hand coordination limitations
  • Limited range of motion
  • Decreased strength
  • Fatigue with daily task completion


Occupational therapists are specifically trained to assist in the reduction of the above stated symptoms.  In addition, between our three outpatient sites there are four certified hand therapists, who have additional training and education in specific and complex diagnoses of the upper extremity.
