Health Care Careers

Fort HealthCare’s Health Care Careers is a free program for high school students who may be interested in a career in health care. Students will come to Fort Memorial Hospital monthly and participate in fun and exciting “hands-on” health care experiences. Students will explore a “day in the life” of various health care professionals in their work setting and be able to ask questions.

This is a great opportunity for students to explore the many fields such as nursing, ultrasound, community health, physical therapy, surgical technician, doctor, phlebotomist, respiratory therapy, pharmacist, exercise physiologist, nurse practitioner, and many more.

This program also provides a great opportunity for volunteer hours, participating in events that support Fort HealthCare’s Mission – “Improve the health and well-being of our community.” We ask program enrollees to volunteer providing community service for at least 8 hours during the school year in one or more Fort HealthCare-sponsored events. These events include (but are not limited to) the Frosty Rock Challenge Run/Walk, the Jefferson County Fair, Farmers Markets, and Healthy Community Coalitions events, etc.
