Wound Care and Hyperbarics

At the Fort HealthCare Wound & Edema Center, expert care meets collaboration as we work closely with your primary care physician or specialty care team to help heal those wounds that put your life on hold. Using specialized techniques including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, we don’t just speed up healing—we reduce the likelihood that you’ll need surgery while helping keep you out of the hospital.

Comprehensive Expertise

Wounds and edema can be frustratingly diverse and complex. That’s why at Fort HealthCare, we arm ourselves with the latest practices and cutting-edge technology to fight back. Whether it’s a persistent surgical wound, a painful diabetic ulcer, or the challenge of lymphedema, we’re here to restore your health and peace of mind.

Our expertise extends to a variety of conditions:

  • Lymphedema
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Burns and traumatic wounds
  • Venous insufficiency
  • Vasculitis
  • Skin irritations and other non-healing wounds
  • And all other types of chronic wounds
    • Chronic wounds, also known as ulcers, are wounds that have a biological or physiological reason for not healing. If untreated, these wounds can lead to serious health complications such as infection, tissue damage, and loss of function. Our team provides advanced care options to support healing and improved quality of life.

Treatment

We create a care plan designed specifically for you and your primary care physician based on the most effective treatment options.

Your treatment may include:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
  • Specialized dressings
  • Infectious disease management
  • Compression wraps
  • Daily wound care and dressing changes
  • Vascular evaluation
  • Laboratory evaluation
  • Nutritional management
  • Pain management
  • Diabetic education
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Radiology
  • Removal of tissue / Debridement
  • Lymphedema treatment
  • Manual lymph drainage
  • T-COM

Once a treatment plan has been started, you will be asked to visit the Center on a regular basis for wound and/or edema care and to receive guidance on care between visits. Education and counseling are also available for caregivers.

Referral and Self-Referral

Sometimes, you know your body better than anyone else. If you’re dealing with diabetes, you might be the first to spot persistent, non-healing wounds. Or maybe you’re a cancer patient who notices swelling and fluid buildup where there shouldn’t be any. Maybe you’ve recently had surgery and it isn’t healing as expected, or a burn is lingering too long. At Fort HealthCare Wound & Edema Center, there is help.
