Fort HealthCare Welcomes New Physician in Cambridge

Fort Medical Group and the Fort HealthCare Cambridge Clinic is pleased to welcome family medicine with obstetrics specialist Rebecca Reim, MD to their medical group practice.  Reim will join Cambridge native, Dr. Stephanie Nottestad, at the clinic on January 4.

Reim received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Carthage College in Kenosha in 1998, and earned her medical degree in 2002 from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed a residency in family medicine from the University of Wisconsin Family Medicine Residency at St. Marys Hospital in Madison in 2005, where she met and trained with Nottestad. In 2007, Reim completed a fellowship with the UW Madison Department of Pediatrics.

Reim was exposed to medicine at an early age by being a nanny for two physicians and was intrigued by their careers. She initially wanted to be a neuroscientist, but found lab research to be limited as far as human contact, which influenced her decision to pursue a practice in family medicine. She is also very much looking forward to practicing obstetrics again.

“I grew up in De Forest, so moving to a community like Cambridge is like coming home for me. I enjoyed my time training in bigger cities, but what really motivates me is the smaller town atmosphere, where I can learn as much as possible about my patients of all ages and get to know and treat members of their families really well. I care a lot about my patients, and I develop lasting relationships with them. My husband, young son and I are moving to Cambridge to stay and raise our family and become a lasting part of our community.”

Prior to coming to Fort HealthCare, Reim was a family medicine physician and medical director at Muscoda Health Center in Muscoda, Wisconsin, followed by her practice as a family medicine physician with Aurora Medical Group in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Her background and training, as well as her desire to be a long-term resident of our community, shows that she’s the right person for the position,” said David Keleher, a Fort HealthCare board member and Cambridge resident.  “She will certainly be a welcome addition to the Fort HealthCare Cambridge clinic.”

In addition to a number of honors, awards and leadership service, Reim belongs to many professional medical organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Wisconsin Medical Society, the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved, Physicians for Human Rights, Physicians for Social Responsibility and the American Medical Society.

Nottestad comments regarding her new partner, “I am very excited for Dr. Reim to join me at Fort HealthCare in Cambridge. She was my colleague for three years during residency at St. Mary’s Hospital, and I look forward to working with her again. She is a knowledgeable and caring physician, as well as a wonderful person. She will be a perfect addition to our Cambridge clinic team.”
