Cardiopulmonary rehab celebrates with patients

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Fort HealthCare’s Cardiopulmonary Rehab department celebrated its anniversary at Rock River Park on Saturday, August 21 with over 35 current and past patients in attendance. The event marked the twenty-first anniversary for cardiac and fourteenth anniversary for pulmonary rehabilitation.

Attendees participated in a variety of heart-healthy activities, shared healthy dishes and recipes and connected with other community members who have been through the same program. Cardiopulmonary rehab staff hosts the event to remind patients that there are still resources and services available to help them live normal, healthy lives with their loved ones. The celebration allows staff and patients a chance to reconnect with each other after they have been through rehab and are putting to use the tools they learned to stay healthy.

“The Cardiopulmonary Rehab and Wellness staff love having this annual celebration because it gives us the opportunity to reconnect with people we haven’t seen in awhile,” remarked Lisa Michaels-Bilgrien, coordinator of cardiopulmonary rehab. She continues, “It is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to them for enriching our lives and for allowing us to help them recover from heart surgery or lung problems and to maintain long term health.”
