Wellness calendars available at Fort HealthCare locations

Fort HealthCare’s Health Promotion department is making available to all community members the Health 365 A Year of Wellness wall calendar for 2010. Calendars can be picked up free of charge at all Fort HealthCare locations beginning Monday, November 30. The calendar features twelve months of wellness information including monthly wellness tips.

The calendar also includes a tear off medication card to help you keep track of medications taken. The reverse side of the card provides space for recording results of screenings and dates when other medical procedures and vaccinations have occurred. These will come in handy should you participate in any of the free health screenings occurring at Fort HealthCare locations throughout 2010. These screenings are listed in the calendar and include screens for high blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and bone density. The card should be presented to your physician at every medical appointment.

Dates and times for a variety of support groups are also listed, including those to help persons and families dealing with aphasia, bereavement issues, diabetes, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, ostomy, postpartum depression and more. A comprehensive listing of health observance days, weeks and months as well as a complete telephone and location listing of Fort HealthCare clinics, programs and services.

Fort HealthCare’s Health 365 Program offers a variety of classes, special events and free screenings to encourage proactive health behavior.  Preventive healthcare and early detection are both shown to enhance individual well-being and lower health insurance costs. The Health 365 Well Ways program is a free service that provides access to tools and information needed to make necessary lifestyle changes. The program includes:
  • Free fasting lipid (cholesterol) panel and glucose testing
  • Free general health risk assessment
  • Free Health 365 e-newsletter
  • Free Wellness challenges
  • Special wellness section for members only.

To become a member, visit www.FortHealthCare.com and click on Well Ways to request membership. A lab slip to access the free lipid and glucose blood work will be mailed to your home upon completion of the on-line registration form. Upon completion of the lab work, you will be contacted by Health Promotion staff to discuss your results.
