Welcome New Urologist, Christopher Manakas, MD

Fort Medical Group and Fort HealthCare Urology Associates is pleased to welcome urology specialist, Christopher Manakas, MD, to their medical group practice. Manakas joins the staff in Fort Atkinson and Elkhorn on September 1. Manakas brings to the practice skilled treatment for incontinence, prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancer prevention and treatment, as well as robotic-assisted laparoscopic and other minimally-invasive surgery experience.

Welcome New Pediatrician, Julia Dewey, MD

Fort Medical Group and Fort HealthCare Internal Medicine & Pediatrics is pleased to welcome pediatrician, Julia Dewey, MD, to their medical group practice. Dewey joins the staff in Fort Atkinson on September 1. In addition to offering general pediatric care, Dewey is available to care for multiples, give pelvic exams and perform circumcisions.

Hospitalist Program at Fort HealthCare

Beginning Tuesday, August 24 some adult patients admitted to the intensive care unit and the medical/surgical/pediatric unit at Fort Memorial Hospital will receive medical care from physicians with specific training in the care of hospitalized persons. The physicians responsible for admitting these patients are called hospitalists and they work closely with the patient's primary care physician throughout the inpatient stay. Because of the intensive training these physicians have received in caring for very medically ill patients, the effectiveness and efficiency of care provided is expected to be enhanced. This new program is the result of medical leadership at Fort HealthCare continuously surveying the healthcare landscape, looking for opportunities to improve care.

Reporting includes how patients respond to treatment and how they compare to similar hospitals. The reports help establish goals for improving the care.

Cardiopulmonary rehab celebrates with patients

Fort HealthCare's Cardiopulmonary Rehab department celebrated its anniversary at Rock River Park on Saturday, August 21 with over 35 current and past patients in attendance. The event marked the twenty-first anniversary for cardiac and fourteenth anniversary for pulmonary rehabilitation.
